Faculty of Business and Tourism Sciences
University of Huelva
This faculty is located at the historical site where the protests of March 3, 1988, took place—events that led to the founding of the University of Huelva. The University College of La Rábida (CUR) was established in 1972, promoted by the Provincial Savings Bank of Huelva and other institutions, and affiliated with the University of Seville. A board of trustees was created as its governing body. Initially, it offered the first cycle of Economics and Business Studies, and in 1976, it added the first cycle of Geography and History. From 1975, professors from the University of Seville traveled to Huelva to teach the second cycle, a situation that lasted until 1983, when the CUR was fully integrated into the University of Seville. That period brought significant financial and academic difficulties in the final years of the Business, Geography and History, and Law programs, leading to the student protests of 1988, which ultimately transformed the CUR into the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences.
In the 1990/91 academic year, the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences was created, incorporating the programs in Geography and History. Later, in 1996/97, the Faculty of Business Studies was established following its separation from Law. In 2000/01, the Tourism Diploma was added to this faculty, and in 2016, it adopted its current name: Faculty of Business and Tourism.
Since the 2010/11 academic year, the faculty has offered degrees in Business Administration and Management (ADE), Finance and Accounting (FICO), and Tourism (TUR), as well as the double degrees ADE–FICO and ADE–Tourism.
